The Redskins have signed  practice squad fullback Eddie Williams to the roster, the team announced on Monday.

Williams’ spot on the practice squad was filled by first-year offensive tackle Clint Oldenburg, who signed with the team on Monday.

Williams assumes the roster spot vacated by Chris Samuels, who was placed on injured reserve last Saturday.

Williams, a 2009 seventh-round draft pick by the Redskins, spent the first eight weeks of the season on the team’s practice squad.

The 6-1, 249-pounder played in four preseason games for the Redskins earlier this year, catching three passes for 18 yards.

Oldenburg, 6-5 and 310 pounds, had a brief practice squad stint with the Minnesota Vikings earlier this season.

He spent the 2009 preseason with the Denver Broncos and has also had stints with the St. Louis Rams, New York Jets and New England Patriots.

Oldenburg saw action in two games at right tackle with the Jets as a rookie in 2007. He originally entered the NFL as a fifth-round draft pick by the Patriots.

Oldenburg, a native of Gillette, Wyo., played college football at Colorado State where he started 34-of-36 games. He was second-team All-MWC in his senior season.
