The Washington Redskins announced Oct. 22 that they have signed guard Isaiah Ross to their practice squad. He will fill the spot vacated by Andrew Crummey, who was signed to the Cincinnati Bengals’ active roster. Ross will wear No. 72.

The 6-foot-3, 320-pound Ross has spent one week on both New Orleans’ and Minnesota’s practice squads this season. He went to training camp with the Saints after playing the last two springs in the Arena Football League. He was waived by New Orleans on Aug. 29.

In 2008, Ross was a member of the New Orleans Voodoo, where, in addition to his blocking duties, he made 14 receptions for 140 yards and five touchdowns. He was a member of the Nashville Kats in 2007, where he caught five passes for 50 yards.

Ross originally signed as a rookie free agent with the San Diego Chargers in 2004, but was waived before the start of training camp. He was signed by the Chargers again in January 2005 and was allocated to NFL Europe, where he played 10 games for the Frankfurt Galaxy.

In 2003, Ross was an All-Western Athletic Conference selection as a senior at University of Nevada, where he earned a degree in communications and marketing. He played his freshman season in 2000 at defensive tackle, posting 25 tackles, before switching to guard for his final three years.

A native of Elk Grove, Calif., Ross was born Nov. 6, 1981.
