The Redskins re-signed Marcus Mason to add depth at running back and signed offensive lineman Paul Fanaika off the Philadelphia Eagles practice squad, the team announced on Monday.

The roster moves coincided with the Redskins placing Ladell Betts, Chad Rinehart and Eddie Williams on injured reserve.

Mason is back for his fourth stint with the team.

He originally joined the Redskins in 2007 as an undrafted rookie out of Youngstown State and spent time on the club’s roster and practice squad each of the last three seasons.

Mason, a native of Potomac, Md., earned a Redskins roster spot coming out of preseason this year. He played in three games in the regular season, rushing for 19 yards on six carries.

Mason was released by the Redskins on Oct. 20 after the team signed offensive lineman Levi Jones and running back Quinton Ganther.

Fanaika (pronounced “fun-Eye-kuh) is a seventh-round draft choice of the Eagles in 2009 out of Arizona State.

Fanaika started 35 of 48 career games with the Sun Devils, earning All-Pac 10 honorable mention in 2006 and 2008.

The 6-foot-5, 327-pound Fanaika was born April 9, 1986 and attended Mills High School in Milbrae, Calif.
