-- NFL.com: Taylor Re-signs With Dolphins
Defensive end Jason Taylor, released by the Redskins last March, has resurfaced with his former team, the Miami Dolphins.
Taylor was expected to sign a one-year contract with the Dolphins, according to a report on NFL.com.
The Redskins had acquired Taylor last July in a trade with the Dolphins.
He played one year in Washington and recorded 3.5 sacks during an injury-plagued season.

-- Redskins Sign O-Lineman Bridges
The Redskins have completed the signing of free agent offensive lineman Jeremy Bridges.
Bridges, 6-4 and 326 pounds, took part in the Redskins’ three-day mini-camp last weekend.
"He was one of the bright spots in the tryouts," head coach Jim Zorn said.
Bridges is a 6-year NFL veteran who has played for the Panthers the last three years and started 28-of-41 games at guard and tackle in that span.
In his career, Bridges has started 39-of-62 games. He had a two-year stint with the Arizona Cardinals from 2004-05 and played one year with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2003.

-- Redskins Sign WRs Williams, Shelton
The Redskins have signed wide receivers Roydell Williams and Trent Shelton.
Williams, 6-0 and 187 pounds, played with the Tennessee Titans from 2005-07. He was released by the club after preseason last year.
Williams had suffered a broken ankle during practice in January 2008 as the Titans prepared for a playoff game.
He was reportedly slow to recover from the injury and he was released by the club after preseason last year.
For his career, Williams has 84 catches for 1,139 yards and six touchdowns.
He had his best season in 2007, when he started 14 games and tied for the team lead with 55 catches for 719 yards and a team-high four touchdowns.
Shelton, 6-0 and 207 pounds, spent 11 weeks on Seattle’s practice squad last year. He was released by the Indianapolis Colts following the 2008 preseason.
Shelton entered the NFL as an undrafted rookie free agent with the Indianapolis Colts in 2007. He spent two weeks on the Colts’ practice squad that year.

-- Redskins Sign Punter Hunter Smith
The Redskins have signed free agent punter Hunter Smith, according to head coach Jim Zorn.
The team is expected to release punter Dirk Johnson as well.
Smith is a 10-year NFL veteran who has played for the Indianapolis Colts since 1999.
He has a career 43.4-yard punting average and earned a Super Bowl XLI ring with Indianapolis in 2006.

-- Redskins Bring In OT Williams
The Redskins have signed offensive lineman Mike Williams, the team has announced.
Williams, 29, is a 5-year NFL veteran who has played for the Buffalo Bills and Jacksonville Jaguars.
He has played both tackle and guard in his career. He was listed as 6-6 and 360 pounds when he last played in the NFL in 2006.
Williams entered the league in 2002 with the Bills as the fourth overall selection in the NFL Draft.
He has struggled with injuries during his career, including a sore back that limited him in his final year in Buffalo.
In 2006, he signed with the Jaguars but was placed on injured reserve when the back injury re-surfaced.

-- Leftwich Signs With Bucs
Free agent quarterback Byron Leftwich has signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Leftwich visited with Redskins officials on April 3 but did not sign on with the team.
He would have competed for a backup job if he signed with the Redskins.

-- Redskins Sign LB Thomas
The Redskins have signed veteran outside linebacker Robert Thomas, a 7-year NFL veteran who played for the Oakland Raiders the last three seasons.
Last year, Thomas played in two games, with one start, as a reserve linebacker. He missed time early in the season due to a knee injury and sat out the latter part of the year with a hamstring injury. He was placed on injured reserve on Nov. 5, 2008.
The versatile linebacker was a first-round draft pick (31st overall) by the St. Louis Rams in 2002.
He played for the Rams from 2002-04 and then played one season with the Green Bay Packers in 2005.
For his career, Thomas has started 50-of-84 games and logged 304 tackles (245 solo), two sacks and one interception.

-- Leftwich Pays a Visit
Free agent quarterback Byron Leftwich visited Redskins Park on Friday, April 3, and worked out for team officials.
Leftwich would compete for a backup job to Jason Campbell if he signs with the Redskins, team officials said.
Leftwich, who played for the Pittsburgh Steelers last year, is a 6-year NFL veteran.
He started four years for the Jacksonville Jaguars and then was released in favor of current starter David Garrard. Leftwich was with the Atlanta Falcons in 2007 before signing with the Steelers last year.
For his career, Leftwich has completed 842-of-1,438 passes for 9,468 yards, 54 touchdowns and 38 interceptions. His QB rating is 80.3.
Leftwich, Washington, D.C., native, was drafted by the Jaguars in the first round (8th overall) of the 2003 NFL Draft.

-- Daniels Back In the Fold
The Redskins have re-signed defensive end Phillip Daniels, the team announced on Thursday.
Daniels, a 13-year NFL veteran, rejoins the team he has played for since 2004.
The 6-4, 28-pounder suffered a knee ligament injury on the first day of training camp last year and was sidelined for the entire season.
He begins his sixth season in Washington. He could be in line for a starting job opposite Andre Carter, although he could face some competition from recently signed Renaldo Wynn, Chris Wilson and 2008 draft pick Rob Jackson.
For his career, Daniels has more 569 tackles (362 solo), 59 sacks, one interception, 16 forced fumbles and 12 fumble recoveries.

-- Boschetti to Oakland
Defensive tackle Ryan Boschetti has signed a contract with the Oakland Raiders.
Boschetti joined the Redskins in 2004 and managed to stick around for five seasons as a backup lineman.
The 28-year-old Boschetti hails from Belmont, Calif., so signing with the Raiders is a chance for him to stay closer to home.

-- Wynn Rejoins the Redskins
The Redskins have agreed to terms with defensive end Renaldo Wynn, a 13-year veteran.
Wynn adds depth to a Redskins defensive line that has lost Jason Taylor and Demetric Evans this offseason.
Wynn previously played for the Redskins from 2002-06. He was a popular figure among teammates and fans and regarded as a locker room leader.
Wynn has 230 tackles and 27 sacks in his career, which began in 1997 as a first-round draft choice of the Jacksonville Jaguars.

-- Doughty Re-signs
The Redskins have re-signed safety Reed Doughty.
A 3-year NFL veteran, Doughty had entered the offseason as a restricted free agent. The Redskins did not tender him a minimum level contract, though, and he became an unrestricted free agent.
Doughty finished last year on injured reserve after suffering a back injury midseason.
He opened the season as the Redskins’ starter at strong safety. He started three of the Redskins’ first five games, posting 18 tackles on defense.

-- Fincher Re-signs With Redskins
The Redskins have re-signed linebacker Alfred Fincher, a 4-year veteran who served as a key backup and special teams player last season.
Fincher, 6-1 and 238 pounds, played in 14 games and recorded six tackles on defense. He also posted nine tackles on special teams.
Fincher was a third-round draft pick by the New Orleans Saints in 2005. He also had a brief stint with the Detroit Lions before joining the Redskins during 2008 training camp.

-- Springs to New England
Shawn Springs has chosen the New England Patriots as his next football home.
Springs, released by the Redskins on Feb. 27, has agreed to terms with the Patriots.
Springs visited with the Patriots last Sunday. He had also visited Philadelphia on Wednesday.

-- Redskins Sign a Punter: Johnson
The Redskins had a need for an experienced punter, and 7-year veteran Dirk Johnson, formerly with Arizona, fit the bill.
Dirk Johnson is a 7-year NFL veteran who has had stints with the Arizona Cardinals, Chicago Bears, Philadelphia Eagles and New Orleans Saints.
For his career, Johnson has 320 punts for a 41.7-yard average and a 35.9-yard net average. He has never had a punt blocked in his career.
Johnson also has experience serving as holder on field goal attempts.

-- Evans to Sign With 49ers
Demetric Evans has agreed to sign with the San Francisco 49ers, reports NFL Network’s Adam Schefter.
Evans played the last five seasons with the Redskins.
Evans turned in his best season last year. He logged 33 tackles, 3.5 sacks and two passes defended.

-- Evans In Play With San Francisco
Free agent defensive end Demetric Evans has visited with the San Francisco 49ers, according to several media reports.
NFL Network’s Adam Schefter is reporting that Evans has been offered a 2-year deal to sign with the 49ers.
Redskins team officials have said they hope Evans decides to return to Washington. The team is shorthanded at defensive end with the release of Jason Taylor on March 2.
Regarding Evans, head coach Jim Zorn said: “I think some players have to go find a financially competitive place that can compete with what we’re [offering]. And then they have to find a place they feel they can go and win.
"So I think there are a lot of ingredients that go into a player’s pursuit. We hope Demetric comes back to us.”
Schefter reports that Evans is expected to make his decision by Friday.

-- Springs Visits Eagles
Shawn Springs remains a hot prospect on the free agent marketplace.
Springs is scheduled to visit with the Philadelphia Eagles on Wednesday. According to the team’s official web site, Springs is expected to host a press conference from Philadelphia on Wednesday afternoon.
Springs visited with the New England Patriots on Sunday. It has been reported that he has also visited the Houston Texans and New Orleans Saints.
The Redskins released Springs on Feb. 27.

-- Redskins Hope to Re-sign Kendall
Even though the Redskins have signed Derrick Dockery to start at left guard, the team is still interested in bringing back Pete Kendall, the lineman who preceded him.
Head coach Jim Zorn said he expected to telephone Kendall soon to discuss a role with team.
Kendall, who has played for the Redskins the last two years, is an unrestricted free agent this offseason.
“We’re hoping he comes back to us at some point and then we can see what we can do," Zorn said.
Kendall’s role would likely be as a backup guard and center. If Randy Thomas is slow to return from neck surgery this offseason, then it’s also possible that Kendall could slide into right guard.

-- Doughty, Geisinger Not Tendered
The Redskins did not tender minimum level contracts to restricted free agents Reed Doughty and Justin Geisinger prior to Feb. 27.
As a result, Doughty and Geisinger become unrestricted free agents.
Doughty, a third-year safety, played in four games, with three starts, last season before he was sidelined with a back injury. He logged 19 tackles and one pass defended.
Geisinger is also a third-year player. The 6-2, 317-pound offensive lineman played in four games with the Redskins last year.

-- Redskins Release Taylor
The Redskins have released veteran defensive end-linebacker Jason Taylor.
Taylor played one season in Washington after the team acquired him in a trade with the Miami Dolphins on July 20, 2008.
Taylor’s 2009 salary was reported to be a hefty $8 million. Despite the Redskins’ free agent signings last Friday, team officials did not ask Taylor to take a pay cut.
The Redskins did want to add a clause in Taylor’s contract requiring him to participate in 25 of 39 days in the team’s off-season workout program.
Taylor declined, leading to his release.

-- Dockery At Redskins Park
Derrick Dockery was at Redskins Park on Monday, visiting with team officials and greeting former teammates and Redskins staffers.
Dockery agreed to terms on a contract with the Redskins last Friday.
The team is scheduled to host a press conference for Dockery--as well as DeAngelo Hall--on Tuesday.

Free agent cornerback Shawn Springs is visiting the New England Patriots, according to NFL Network’s Adam Schefter.
Springs was released by the Redskins on Feb. 27 after five seasons in Washington.

-- Redskins, Dockery Agree to Terms
The Redskins are bringing back one of their own. The team has agreed to contract terms with free agent guard Derrick Dockery.
Dockery was a third-round draft choice by the Redskins in 2003. He started for the Redskins for four years, honing his skills beside Chris Samuels.
In 2007, Dockery signed a lucrative free agent contract with the Buffalo Bills.
The Bills released Dockery on Feb. 26, and the Redskins quickly pounced on him.

The Redskins have released cornerback Shawn Springs in a salary cap maneuver.
Springs is a 12-year veteran who has played in Washington since 2004.

The Redskins do not have a visit scheduled with free agent defensive end Chris Canty, according to team officials.
Earlier on Friday, it was reported that Canty was expected to visit Redskins Park.

-- Schefter: Canty to Visit Redskins Park
NFL Network’s Adam Schefter is reporting that free agent defensive end Chris Canty is expected to visit Redskins Park on Friday. The Redskins have not confirmed this meeting, however.
Canty has played in a 3-4 alignment with the Dallas Cowboys the last four years. He started 16 games each of the last three seasons and has 10 career sacks, including 6.5 the last two years.
Canty, 6-7 and 304 pounds, was drafted by the Cowboys in the fourth round of the 2005 NFL Draft. He played his college ball at the University of Virginia.

-- Redskins Agree to Terms With Haynesworth
The Redskins landed the NFL’s free agency prize, agreeing to terms with defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth. The deal was announced on Friday morning at 7 a.m. ET.
Haynesworth has played seven years in the NFL, all with the Tennessee Titans. He earned All-Pro honors and a pair of Pro Bowl berths in 2007 and 2008.
As the anchor of the Titans’ defensive line since 2002, Haynesworth has posted 271 tackles (199 solo) and 24 sacks in his career.

-- Redskins Agree to Terms With Hall
Just after midnight on Friday morning, the Redskins and cornerback DeAngelo Hall agreed to terms on a contract, keeping Hall in Washington.
Hall joined the Redskins midseason last year and played in seven games, with four starts. He is a 5-year NFL veteran and earned Pro Bowl nods in 2005 and 2006.
He finished with 25 tackles, two interceptions and seven passes defended for the Redskins last season.
