DeAngelo Hall and Fred Smoot stood in line with 100 schoolchildren, the U.S. Capitol building a few steps away.

It was a dramatic setting--despite an overcast day--as the two Redskins’ cornerbacks helped lead kids through a series of fitness activities on the West Lawn of the Capitol. The event was part of NFL PLAY 60, which encourages kids to take part in 60 minutes of physical activity every day.

Hall and Smoot were also on hand to help call for passage of the Fitness Integrated with Teaching (FIT) Kids Act, which would put a greater priority on physical education in schools.

Hall and Smoot were joined by U.S. Sen. Tom Harkin (D-IA), U.S. Reps. Ron Kind, Jay Inslee and Zach Wamp, Baltimore Ravens players Troy Smith, Brendan Ayanbadego and Marcus Maxwell, and Atlanta Falcons owner Arthur Blank.

The FIT Kids Act, which will be re-introduced this week in Congress, would support quality physical education for all public school children through grade 12 and ensure they receive important health and nutritional information.
