Health Awareness

Atlas and Athena
In conjunction with the NFL's Youth Football Fund, and Oregon Health & Science University, WRCF took a stand against the use of steroids and human growth hormone (HGH) at the high school level by launching the Atlas and Athena program at six Washington, DC area schools. Atlas for male athletes and Athena for female athletes are nationally-acclaimed initiatives designed to promote healthy living and reduce the use of steroids and other drugs among high school athletes. Both programs promote healthy nutrition while increasing communication and decision-making skills through the use of peer-led training sessions incorporated into the natural practice schedule of the sports teams. The six Redskins Atlas and Athena schools are Ballou Senior High School (DC), Central High School (MD), Fairmont Heights High School (MD), Park View High School (VA), Robinson Secondary School (VA), and Roosevelt Senior High School (DC).

Think Pink

The Washington Redskins annually team up with Zeta Tau Alpha (ZTA) to tackle breast cancer through a "Think Pink" awareness campaign. A Redskins home game is designated as a "Think Pink" game and hundreds of ZTA volunteers along with Redskins players and coaches wives distribute pink breast cancer awareness ribbons to arriving fans. In addition, Redskins Retail sells limited-edition pink script R hats and donates a portion of all proceeds to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
