Cheerleader Adriana Blogs From Tour

Adriana tells us all about her stop on tour in Africa

Greetings Skins Fans!

I recently had the opportunity to travel to Camp Lemonnier in Djibouti Africa for a short, yet amazing, military appreciation tour with 9 of my WRC sisters.   I’ve never spent so much time on a plane (12 hours one way) or experienced such intense heat, but once the tour was over, not a single one of us were quite ready to leave.  I would gladly take the trip again.

As soon as we got to camp, we made a stop at the galley to replenish our energy with delicious food while chatting with some of the members stationed there.  We then jumped on our bus and made various stops around base to include a personal sit down with the Commanding Officer who told us a bit of the history of Camp Lemonnier.  Later in the evening we also had a lot of fun cheering on some of the guys as they participated in a Punt, Pass & Kick competition.

Thinking back on the tour, it’s hard to pick a favorite moment.  There were so many: Snorkeling out on the beautiful water with EOD, spending all night at the tailgate party mingling with the troops and cheering the skins on to victory, performing our variety show to a packed room, hanging out with the brave men in Pararescue, or the numerous meet and greets we were able to squeeze-in in such a short time.  Every second we spent there was memorable.

This tour was particularly special to me because I have had the privilege of being in the military for 12 years as an active duty member of the Air Force.  Being selected to go on (my first) tour to perform for the troops in Africa was truly an honor.  Getting to meet so many fellow servicemen and women of all branches of the military made me feel at home.  I am also grateful that as Redskins Cheerleaders we could help bring a sense of home to everyone there.  Thank you Donald for helping make this tour possible!  And thank you so much to everyone at Camp Lemonnier for making us feel welcome and sharing your time with us.  Your dedication and service to our country is appreciated far more than words can express.

Love & Cheers,
