Hey Redskins Fans!

My name is Charo and I am absolutely thrilled, honored, and grateful to be back for another season of cheering on the best team in the NFL! This time around, I’ve been honored the title as one of the Captains of the squad, and I couldn’t be more excited to lead this distinguished group of talented, passionate, and intelligent women – hence the title The First Ladies of Football!

I fell in love with dance when I was just five years old. Attending the Ballet Royale Institute of Maryland, I began with classical ballet, but soon added jazz, tap, contemporary, pointe, lyrical, modern, and hip hop to my repertoire. I competed and won many awards in several competitions, including the prestigious Youth America Grand Prix, and spent most of my teenage summers away at dance programs, including the Miami City Ballet and Alonzo King’s LINES Ballet.  After committing most of my life to dance, must I say that it is my biggest passion? I feel the most alive when I am performing and don’t believe that I have ever gone one day without dancing.

I attended the University of Maryland College Park where I studied business and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.  I was on the Maryland Dance Team, a sister of Alpha Phi sorority, and a group fitness instructor at the campus gym.  While in school, I had the chance to do a short study abroad program in the Southern Caribbean. With the aid of an amazing Dutch crew, we spent over a week sailing on a clipper ship through the Caribbean. Though I learned much about geography and sailing, I think the most important lesson I took from this study abroad experience was the serene power and value of nature – hoisting the sails at 4am was definitely rewarded by being able to watch the sun rise over the pink and purple sky of St. Lucia.

Currently, I work as a Tax Accountant at a large media company. During my free time, I love reading and being active. I enjoy yoga, tennis, hiking, snowboarding, playing with my Bichon Frise puppy, Caesar, and anything that involves the outdoors or a good workout!

During my tenure as a Washington Redskins Cheerleader, I’ve been lucky enough to travel to the Dominican Republic, Aruba, Costa Rica, UAE, Oman, Qatar, Kuwait, and Hong Kong. Taking the time and opportunity to go visit the troops overseas was something that I will never, ever forget - I truly cannot put into words how thankful and humbled I am by their service and sacrifice. To our great military men and women... You are America's heroes. Though there’s probably not much better than traveling the world with my teammates, my favorite part of being on this team is dancing and practicing hard so that we can cheer on our Skins and perform for YOU in the stands!  In the end, it all comes down to the fans and I can’t wait to help make your time at FedExField an unforgettable one.

Endless love and gratitude to my incredible family and friends – there’s no way I’d be where I am today without your unconditional support. As for you, Redskins fans, it’s going to be an amazing season!

See you on Game Day!
